Olvy 1.0

Story of a landing page

We turned a simple waitlist page into a growth engine.

Before we launched Olvy 1.0, we needed a way to capture attention and build excitement.

We built a landing page that wasn’t just a form—it was an experience. Our goal was to stand out and tell our story in a way that resonated with our audience. The page became more than just a sign-up—it sparked conversations and drove curiosity.

This strategy generated significant buzz on social media, attracting a wave of early users who were excited to see what we were building. By combining storytelling and design, we turned a simple waitlist into the starting point of our growth journey.

"Our launch journey was featured on Starter Story, where you can find a detailed breakdown of how we attracted our first users and executed our launch strategy. The article dives into our step-by-step approach, showcasing how we used creative design and innovative growth hacks to make an impact from day one."

The Pivot: From Changelog Tool to Customer Insights Platform

We eventually realized that the changelog tool addressed a smaller market, making it challenging to build a sustainable business around it. However, we uncovered a powerful insight—users loved how Olvy transformed release notes into a channel for gathering customer feedback. Even before AI was a buzzword, we implemented features that allowed users to engage directly with their customers, collecting valuable feedback on their releases.

This feature resonated deeply with our audience, sparking excitement about how Olvy could help companies get closer to their customers. Fueled by this insight, we raised our first funding round and shifted our focus to a bigger vision: bringing customer data from multiple sources into one place and helping businesses analyze qualitative data to create meaningful connections with their users.

Marketing Campaigns

Education about Olvy 2.0, the whole of 2022

The Next Phase: Building Momentum and Expanding Reach

The next phase was all about amplifying our presence. We kept doing marketing campaigns across social media and utilized the lead generation efforts from our marketing emails. Thanks to our growing popularity as a changelog tool, we had already become one of the top choices in this market.

But it was time to evolve, to turn that popularity into something bigger. It started with a concept launch video that laid the foundation for Olvy 2.0.

But we didn’t stop there. We designed a beta landing page that wasn’t just functional—it was an experience. The page, beta.olvy.co, told our story in a way that resonated deeply with our audience. The result? It went viral, bringing in a fresh wave of early users who were excited to see what Olvy 2.0 had to offer.

The creativity behind the landing page caught the attention of Protypr team (a design magazine), where we published an in-depth feature on how we built it, why we approached it this way, and the impact it had. Read the complete case study here.

But the buzz didn’t stop there. Framer, the platform we used to build the landing page, featured us as well.

Fun fact: Olvy became one of the first companies to use Framer for a real business landing page in the early days of the platform’s evolution.

As the word spread, the excitement around Olvy 2.0 started to grow. People began discovering the new version, sparking conversations across our community.

At this stage, we were actively working with our beta users, co-creating and iterating the product to bring our new vision to life. Every interaction refined Olvy into a tool that truly aligned with the needs of its users, laying the groundwork for a complete revamp of the product from the ground up—a transformation that would define Olvy 2.0.

Finally, after months of effort, creativity, and determination, we revealed the first look of Olvy 2.0 to the world. It was more than just a product update—it was a statement of what Olvy had become and a bold vision of where it was headed.

This milestone marked a turning point for Olvy, setting the foundation for what came next: the launch of our feedback widget.

Olvy's Feedback Widget

Launched on January 17th, 2023

First big launch for the pivot after 2021 Olvy's Feedback Widget powered by GPT-3

It was time for a transformation. Olvy had gained popularity as a changelog tool, but we needed to completely reposition the brand as a feedback management platform. This was a critical turnaround, requiring us to shift our focus and messaging to reflect the new vision.

To start, we introduced a product that increased our top-of-funnel adoption: a versatile feedback widget. This tool catered to both small companies lacking multiple customer interaction channels and larger enterprises. Its agnostic nature made it appealing to businesses of all sizes, bringing in a wide variety of users.

While we had a bold new vision—helping companies listen to their customers wherever they hang out, from surveys and interviews to reviews, support tickets, and sales calls—we chose to prioritize a product-led growth (PLG) approach. This strategy ensured faster adoption by focusing on a simple, intuitive entry point for users.

The feedback widget became the first step toward creating a comprehensive workspace where businesses could consolidate customer feedback, uncover insights quickly, and leverage state-of-the-art AI to automate the process. This pivot positioned Olvy as a tool that truly brought companies closer to their customers, no matter where they were.

Story Time: "As part of the brand trasformation story we also rode the GPT-3 Wave" With our pivot, we also embraced the emerging AI revolution, riding the GPT-3 wave to become one of the first companies to bring AI into production with a valid business use case. By integrating GPT-3, we automated the process of analyzing qualitative data, helping companies extract meaningful insights faster. This early adoption of AI not only strengthened our product but also positioned Olvy as an innovative leader in the feedback management space.

New Insights

What we learned from 2023 to mid 2024

What we learned from 2.0 and the teams using it

After the success of Olvy 2.0, we knew it was time to scale up and prepare for the next big step—becoming enterprise-ready. With the traction we had gained and the amazing customers we worked with, we dove deeper into the challenges of qualitative feedback analysis. Olvy 3.0 was built with a clear vision: to empower product teams, from early-stage startups to enterprise growth teams, by making feedback collection and analysis effortless.

Understanding Enterprise Needs

Through our collaboration with customers like Wix, we uncovered key insights into how enterprise teams engage with feedback. We identified two types of product managers central to this process:

  1. Platform Product Managers : Focused on maintaining the reliability of existing products, they prioritize feedback for usability improvements and incremental changes.

  2. Growth Product Managers : Driven by innovation, they use feedback to identify trends and new opportunities, fueling experiments and market expansion.

With these personas in mind, Olvy 3.0 was designed to cater to both needs, bridging the gap between maintaining product excellence and exploring new possibilities.

Refining Our Target Market

We focused on early-stage product teams and enterprise growth teams, while showcasing our work with larger companies like Wix to demonstrate scalability. However, we learned to avoid targeting companies that were too small, as they posed sustainability risks. Instead, we honed in on businesses with 50-500 employees, balancing innovation with growth potential.

Meet Alex: The Ideal Persona

We designed Olvy 3.0 with people like Alex in mind—a busy product manager juggling endless tasks, from user interviews to sprint planning.

Alex faces challenges like:

Time Crunch : Limited hours in the day to gather and analyze feedback.

Wearing Multiple Hats : Managing product strategy while troubleshooting UX issues.

Prioritization Struggles : Deciding what to build next amidst competing demands.

Olvy 3.0: Preparing for the Enterprise Stage

Introducing Olvy 3.0

After a year of development and countless iterations, we launched Olvy 3.0—a tool designed to bring product teams closer to their customers and supercharge their feedback analysis.

Here’s what makes Olvy 3.0 stand out:

AI Auto Listener

Manually collecting feedback is a thing of the past. With Olvy’s Auto Listener, product teams can integrate their tools (e.g., Slack, Zendesk, and Intercom) and let AI automatically filter and collect genuine feedback into a single workspace. This eliminates noise and ensures teams stay on top of user needs effortlessly.

Ask Olvy

Tired of sifting through endless feedback? Just ask Olvy! This feature scans all your feedback, filters relevant insights, and generates summaries along with actionable recommendations—all in seconds. It’s like having a personal assistant for your feedback management.

Video Feedback Uploader

Extracting feedback from hour-long user calls is now seamless. With Olvy’s Video Feedback Uploader, you can upload user calls, and Olvy AI generates transcripts for easy feedback extraction. Let Olvy do the heavy lifting, so you can focus on what truly matters.

AI Autofills

As feedback poured in, the next challenge was organization. Teams needed a way to categorize feedback effortlessly. AI Autofills solved this by automatically tagging and structuring feedback, tailored to each team’s needs.

This feature turned unstructured chaos into clarity, making it easier for teams to align feedback with their product roadmap.

Themes

The big picture mattered too. Teams wanted to identify overarching patterns in their feedback but struggled to connect the dots. That’s where Themes came in.

This feature grouped feedback into broader categories, making it simple to see trends and prioritize efforts. It wasn’t just about extracting insights—it was about understanding the story behind the data.

Using Design as a Strategy

Looking back, Olvy was never just a product we built—it was a design-led system we engineered from day one. We didn’t use design just to make things beautiful.

We used design to make things believable. Usable. Scalable. Shareable.

At Olvy, design sat at the core of everything:

Design as our Growth Engine

Before we had a product, we had a story—and we used design to tell it.

Our earliest landing page didn’t just ask for emails. It created intrigue. It communicated our ambition before we had features to show. That page alone kickstarted our waitlist and brought in early adopters—purely through narrative design.

Design as a Tool to craft a Pivot Story

When we pivoted, design carried the weight of change.

We had to unlearn a category and introduce a new one. That required reimagining the brand, the messaging, the landing experience—and doing it in a way that our users felt the shift before we explained it. Our Framer site did that job. It wasn’t just a page; it was a moment.

Design as AI Enablement

With AI, we didn’t slap on a GPT integration and call it a day. We designed new workflows around it—"Ask Olvy," "AI Autofills," "Themes."

These features worked because they felt native, not novel. We let design guide the interaction layer so AI never felt like a gimmick—it felt like magic that made sense.

Design as Product-Market Fit Detection

Every product decision was validated through design experiments. From feedback widget adoption to enterprise workflows in Olvy 3.0, we prototyped rapidly, shipped fast, and let the UI and UX speak for our strategy before a line of backend code was written.

So What Did I Learn?

That design isn't what you do after the product is built.
It’s how you build the product. And the brand. And the story.

Design is how we made Olvy feel real at every stage—even before it was fully built. It aligned our team, attracted believers, and guided our pivots.

It was how we moved fast without breaking trust.
